I grew up on the south side of Chicago in a single-parent home, where I struggled with purpose, identity, and self-esteem. That void led to poor decisions—gang affiliation, substance abuse, dropping out of high school, and legal troubles. But after hitting rock bottom, I made a choice: I chose to change. I chose me.
